3 Rockford Teens Arrested During Traffic Stop with Weapons, Drugs

Rockford Police arrested three teens late on Tuesday night (8/12), and all three are facing multiple felony charges following a traffic stop.

Weapons and Narcotics Seized During Late-Night Stop

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday night (8/12) at around 10:45 pm near 15th Street and 9th Avenue.

During a search of the vehicle, police found two loaded handguns, one equipped with a laser attachment, along with ammunition. According to the RPD report, one of the guns was confirmed to have been stolen out of Rockford.

Officers also recovered over 5 grams of crack cocaine and approximately 20 grams of MDMA, otherwise known as Ecstasy.

Charges Filed Against Three Rockford Teens

Following a review of the case by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, the following charges have been authorized against the three individuals:

  • Juvenile Male, 17, Rockford: Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (2 Counts), No Valid FOID.
  • Juvenile Male, 16, Rockford: Armed Violence, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (2 Counts), No Valid FOID, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
  • Bryson Jackson, 18, Rockford: Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Various Traffic Offenses.

At the time this story was published, Jackson was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail, while the two juveniles were lodged in the Juvenile Detention Center.
