Beloit Sky Carp honor local kids battling significant illnesses

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — Before the Beloit Sky Carp took to the field vs the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, they honored five local kids. Each with different medical conditions, getting the day to band together and continue their fight. How they came up with the idea? Community Relations Coordinator Barry Badertscher says it came off of a whim.

“A couple of months ago I went on social media and I said ‘is there anybody out there that knows of a deserving person for a first pitch? Be it either you’ve done great things in the community or maybe you’re facing an illiness whatever that may be.’”

The whim became the “Courageous Warriors Day”, honoring those five kids and giving them just a time to not think about what they are battling as well as showing them they are not alone…
