Stateline K-9 officers fitted for ballistic vests

(WIFR) – Seven K-9 officers will soon have new ballistic vests thanks to $36,000 raised by a Loves Park vet tech.

Deputies, vet techs and the handlers watched as the dogs were fitted Friday for their vests. The vests protect the K-9s from shootings, stabbings and explosions.

Sarah Robbins, a vet tech at Dogwood Pet Hospital, launched the fundraiser in May, shortly after K-9 Andii from the Rockford Police Department was shot in the line of duty…
