The results of a Labor Day weekend traffic safety campaign conducted by the Rockford Police Department have been released, resulting in hundreds of citations.
DUI and Traffic Citations Issued
According to a Rockford PD press release, the campaign was focused on impaired and unsafe driving, and over the holiday weekend, officers issued more than 200 citations.
Four of those were for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and six were issued for distracted driving.
Breakdown of Enforcement
The enforcement effort by Rockford Police resulted in 46 seat belt citations, 39 speeding violations, and 18 driver’s license citations.
Officers also made seven criminal arrests and issued 83 additional citations for various traffic infractions. According to the report, the operation targeted impaired drivers, distracted motorists, and those failing to follow basic traffic laws.
