FREEPORT, Ill. — On Friday, a judge ruled the suspect in a June 26 police shooting in Savanna is unfit to stand trial. The shooting occurred after a multi-agency police chase in Illinois.
The suspect, Mark Feltmeyer, remains in Stephenson County custody as the court ordered efforts to restore his fitness within a year and set a Sept. 24 status hearing.
The charges stem from a pursuit that began late June 25 in Freeport, when officers tried to stop a suspected stolen vehicle. Police said that Feltmeyer fled from them, nearly striking a squad car and another vehicle, and officers ended the chase after losing sight of the car…
