Jury finds Rockford man guilty of shooting teen 20 times, killing him

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A Rockford man faces decades behind bars for shooting and killing a 19-year-old back in 2022.

Dylan Denham, 31, was found guilty of first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement after a three-day jury trial.

On April 14, 2022, Deontay Turner, 19, was found lying on the sidewalk in the area of 11th Street and Sixth Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. Turner died at a local hospital and an autopsy found he’d been shot around 20 times.

Denham was developed as a suspect and arrested almost a year later in Florida.

During the trial, prosecutors showed surveillance video from the 700 block of 11th Street that showed Denham come up behind Turner, firing dozens of shots hitting Turner in the back. Video then reportedly shows Denham running to a vehicle to get out of the area…
