First responders put out fire at boarded up residential unit in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Nearly two dozen people from the Rockford Fire Department spent three hours Sunday evening extinguishing a residential fire which cost $100,000 in damages.

Crews were called around 8 p.m. Sunday to the 900 block of Acorn Street where they saw heavy fire coming through the roof of a multi-family unit.

District Chief Brett Beaman said the place was boarded up and not occupied at the time of the fire. Nobody was injured…
