FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – Some people in the community attended a celebration of life for Walter Hayward, a Pretzel City native who died in November 2021 at 45 years old.
This event took place at Cimino’s in Freeport. Walter’s mom Lorita Burris’ hosted this event on his birthday after his death as a way to keep his legacy alive.
Hayward was a former Freeport mayoral candidate who was passionate about making a difference in the community. He advocated for area youth including as a basketball and track coach. Burris said she is proud of the life her son led…
