Cherry Valley, IL – Drivers traveling through Cherry Valley should prepare for overnight traffic changes starting Monday evening, Oct. 13, and continuing into Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, as crews open the final new ramp from northbound I-39 to U.S. 20/Harrison Avenue, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
The traffic shift is part of the ongoing I-39 and U.S. 20/Harrison Avenue interchange reconstruction project, which aims to improve traffic flow and safety in the Cherry Valley and Rockford area. IDOT said all other ramps will remain open, but motorists should anticipate delays and allow extra travel time through the area.
Originally scheduled for earlier this month, the ramp opening was delayed to allow crews to complete final paving and safety checks. The work marks one of the last major milestones in the $44.2 million interchange reconstruction, part of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Rebuild Illinois capital program…
