LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) – Hundreds of people packed Neighbors Bar & Grill to help raise money for Doc’s Diner after a fire forced the beloved restaurant to close.
The diner has been a community staple for years, with many families like Addison Long growing up inside its walls. Addison Long, who’s been helping at the diner since she was in seventh grade, says the fire shook her entire family.
“It kind of just shook the ground from underneath us because that’s our whole family’s income. Losing that diner, I mean I grew up there, my siblings grew up there. It took a tool on all of us really,” said Long.
The fundraiser drew around 200 people throughout the morning, with nearly 600 showing interest online. Organizers say they raised more than $600 in just the first round of their 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will go toward the diner…
