ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A unique collaboration between Rockford Public Schools and Tricoci University of Beauty Culture gave a group of young women and girls the chance to feel confident, inspired and supported all while celebrating their natural beauty.
Saturday October 18 “Day of Beauty and Empowerment” brought students to Tricoci for a day of professional hair styling, conversations with stylists and lessons on entrepreneurship. The event is part of RPS 205’s Sisters for Change initiative, which uses incentives like this to reward good grades, behavior and attendance.
“We’re bringing young scholars here so they can get the opportunity to get their hair done and it’s also an experience for them to be able to connect with the stylist and learn a little bit about not only about the stylist’s lifestyle stories but also their own personal stories and also learn about entrepreneurship in the mist of that,” said Jarmiese McNeal, manager of Culture & Student Engagement at RPS 205.
The event also gave students a chance to learn more about hair care, self-esteem and professional opportunities in the beauty industry…
