Skin infection alert issued for South Beloit High School students

SOUTH BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — South Beloit High School is notifying families after cases of a highly contagious skin infection were detected in several students.

Superintendent Dr. Nikolas Butenhoff told families Wednesday that cases of impetigo were found at the school.

Impetigo is a skin infection caused by bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes, and appears as red sores or blisters around the nose and mouth, hands, or other exposed areas…
