ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Local law enforcement agencies honor the memory of Officer Jaimie Cox, eight years since he was killed in the line of duty.
Officer Cox, 30, was killed in the early morning hours of Nov. 5, 2017, when he pulled over Eddie Patterson, 49, at E. State Street and Dawn Avenue in Rockford.
Investigators said Patterson was uncooperative, giving Cox a false name. While trying to arrest Patterson, Cox became entangled in Patterson’s vehicle as he tried to speed away.
