BYRON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The Byron Tigers and the IC Catholic Knights have had some payoff thrillers in recent years that have gone down-to-the-wire. That wasn’t the case this time. The Tigers won comfortably Saturday 28-6 in an IHSA 3A Quarterfinal game.Byron led only 7-0 at halftime on a two-yard Caden Considine touchdown run. In the third quarter, Cole Aken scored on a five-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 14-0. IC Catholic answered early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown catch by first team All-State receiver Grant Bown. The extra point attempt was blocked making it 14-6.Byron grabbed the momentum right back when senior running back Dawson Criddle ripped off a 65-yard touchdown run putting Byron up 21-6.Byron quarterback/safety Andrew Talbert then intercepted on Knights’ pass giving the ball back to the Tigers.
