Health leaders react to nursing no longer considered a ‘professional degree’

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Students hoping to join the nursing profession may soon find it harder to pay for their degree. A change local experts say could worsen an already significant shortage of healthcare workers.

“If you have ever been in the hospital, you know that nursing is the scaffolding that the whole healthcare system depends on,” said Monahan.
