‘Highly pathogenic’ disease confirmed in Rock County

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Rock County Public Health confirmed a case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in a goose in Rock County.

According to RCPH, they received a notification from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services that a goose tested positive for HPAI, also known as avian influenza, avian flu, and bird flu. A resident of Rock County was being monitored for any symptoms after the goose came into contact with them, said DHS.

Currently, there are no reported cases of HPAI transmission to humans in Rock County, as the person who came in contact with the goose didn’t display any relevant symptoms, authorities state…
