Winnebago County sheriff offers free, safe rides on Blackout Wednesday

ROCKFORD, Ill (WTVO) — The day before Thanksgiving is often referred to as “Blackout Wednesday,” and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office will provide safe rides again this year.

“We want to provide a ride home to anybody that was out partying having a good time and get them home safely,” said Winnebago County Sheriff, Gary Caruana.

Sheriff Caruana says they want to avoid DUI’s since Thanksgiving Eve is a busy drinking night. “I think it’s more populated because you have the four days off before you have to go back to work,” stated Caruana…
