‘Numerous commendations.’ Retiring Rock County K9 Kamo aided in major drug busts

JANESVILLE — The Rock County Sheriff’s Office has officially retired K9 Kamo, one of the county’s most decorated and effective police dogs, after a hearing loss left him unable to safely continue serving.

K9 Kamo, who joined the Sheriff’s Office in November 2019, was medically retired on Nov. 13, 2025, following surgery that resulted in permanent hearing loss in his left ear.

Throughout his six-year career, Kamo was partnered exclusively with Deputy Cody St. Michael and was primarily assigned to the patrol division.
