Inmate dies after being found unresponsive in Winnebago County Jail

ROCKFORD, Ill (WTVO) — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after the death of a female inmate inside the jail.

According to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office on Monday, Dec. 8, at 12:18 p.m., Miranda Joiner, 30, died after being transported from the Winnebago County jail.

Authorities state that on Sunday, Dec. 7, around 10:47 p.m. officers found Joiner unresponsive inside her cell. Life-saving measures were initiated by medical staff and correctional officers before the Rockford Fire Department responded and continued resuscitative efforts, the department said in a release…
