Crews begin salting roads in Rockford to prepare for slick roads Tuesday night

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – With freezing rain and icy conditions expected Tuesday evening, the city of Rockford says its public works crews began salting arterial routes around 10 a.m. Dec. 9.

Drivers are reminded to follow behind snowplows and salt trucks at a safe distance. This will prevent the salt from hitting your vehicle and also gives truck drivers space to back up if needed…
