New bakery business in Roscoe offers a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds

Pastry chef Amy Sloat is the owner and head pastry chef at Whisk & Spoon, a home-based bakery business in Roscoe. In January 2026, just a few weeks from now, Amy will be moving into a storefront building she and her husband Sam purchased and renovated. “My goal has always been to own my own bakery and expand our menu.”

Amy is a graduate of Black Hawk College’s Culinary Arts program. In addition, she has over 3 years of professional experience, including catering service at Beloit College. “I missed baking and the freedom of doing what I wanted to do.” Ever since she was a young girl, she has wanted to own her own bakery and create custom treats and confections made from scratch, using the best ingredients, and made with love.

In late January, she will be following her dream. Amy will be opening Whisk & Spoon Baking Company in the Roscoe Business Center, at 5522 Elevator Road in Roscoe. However, she won’t be the only business in the building. Amy will be sharing space with Roscoe Nutrition and Worth It Wellness with Erica.

Roscoe Nutrition, a vitamin and supplement store, was located at 5065 Edgemere Terrace in Roscoe. It was formerly owned by Josh and Kali Lamb.
