Freeport family’s homemade scarves bring warmth to homeless

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Freeport family is helping the homeless this winter, turning their home arts and crafts project into a community service act.

Eight-year-old River and 4-year-old Jojo Skettini, along with their grandmother Kathy Pignato, initiated this project to provide warmth to those in need. As temperatures drop this winter, the Skettini brothers wanted to spread some holiday cheer by giving back, making scarves to help those without shelter.

“A lesson I learned is not to be selfish,” River said. “Think about yourself less than other people.”…
