ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A generous donation shrinks Veterans Memorial Hall into a miniature replica to join other Forest City landmarks in the Sinnissippi Station Model Train Exhibit at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens.
Veterans Memorial Hall serves as a living memorial to Veterans from all generations. Director Scott Lewandowski has overseen the hall’s operations since 2007 and spearheaded several efforts to draw more attention to the museum and the history inside.
From now until January 25, 2026, guests can check out the detailed model of the historic building, complete with its iconic Civil War soldier.
The full exhibit features trains and trolleys painted and personalized to present those who traveled through Rockford’s past. Memorial Hall joins landmarks including, Nicholas Conservatory, the Coronado Performing Arts Center, Beyer Stadium and the Rock Men Guardians.
