ROCKFORD — A family-owned manufacturer of cold-headed screws and other fasteners cut the ribbon on Thursday on a 46,000-square-foot expansion to its facility on the city’s south side.
The $7.9 million investment into Slidematic Precision Components, 1303 Samuelson Road, allows the company to grow its workforce by an additional 25 jobs with room for future growth. The company employs more than 200 people now. The addition expands its existing 166,000-square-foot facility.
“It’s the type of building that will be here and will be providing jobs for well over 100 years,” said Brad Baker, the vice president of operations who owns the business with his father, Randy, and brother, Randall. “I’ll be long gone, but generations of people will still be in this building, whether it’s Slidematic or somebody else. It’s a win for Rockford as well. The whole community wins.”…
