Rockford man sentenced to 50 years for 2023 Christmas Day shooting

ROCKFORD, Ill (WTVO) — A Rockford man has been sentenced to a total of 50 years for a shooting that occurred during a robbery on Christmas Day two years ago.

According to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, Ricky Guinyard, 37, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender. Guinyard was convicted in January 2025 and is required to serve 85% of his sentence, according to authorities.
