Cold weather impacts outdoor holiday light displays across Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Outdoor holiday light displays are a seasonal tradition across Rockford, but this year’s early cold snap has kept some families at home and forced organizers to adjust.

At Anderson Japanese Gardens, organizers say winter weather arrived earlier and harsher than usual, impacting attendance during the opening weeks of Illuminated.

“The winter kicked off right away this year, so we got hit immediately with the large snowfall, and then additionally with lower than usual temperatures earlier in the season,” said John Gleason with Anderson Japanese Gardens. “It definitely had an impact on our guest attendance for the first two weeks of Illuminated.”…
