Shoppers participate in “Thriftmas” to save on holiday gifts

ROCKFORD Ill, (WTVO) — It’s the week of Christmas and some shoppers are still looking for gifts and to save money. “Thriftmas” is a popular trend that has people buying from gift stores rather than online or big-box stores.

Inside Goodwill on East State Street, locals participated in “Thriftmas.” “I have an easier time looking at thrift stores for things that I know my people would like rather than I do at Walmart or Target,” said shopper, Sarah Mckee.

Mckee is all for “Thriftmas.” Fir some shoppers, saving money is a reason to thrift and Mckee said it’s a huge plus. “I looked at new stuff at Walmart and I’m like, why would I pay $20 for this when I can go down to goodwill and find one for $0.99,” said Mckee…
