City First Church provides free meals to 250 families ahead of Christmas

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — City First Church held a food distribution event this week, providing free meals to 250 families ahead of the Christmas holiday. The event, which took place at the church on Spring Creek, reflects an increasing community need for food assistance.

The food distribution was facilitated through donations from the Northern Illinois Food Bank, allowing volunteers from City First to load cars with essential food items, including fresh produce. This recent event marks the third food distribution organized by the church in the past month, highlighting a growing demand for assistance during the holiday season.

Page Flock, Community Outreach Pastor at City First Church, expressed the mission behind these efforts. “We saw the need at Thanksgiving and we wanted to help meet the need at Christmas to be able to provide some food for the holiday season and Christmas and all of that, as well. So, we have seen an uptick in people needing help and needing food and so we’ve stepped up said hey how can we help and be part of the solution and bring some help this holiday season,” Flock said…
