Consumers cautioned to return gifts quickly as return windows shorten

Cherry Valley, Ill (WTVO) — Shoppers are heading back to Cherryvale Mall to return gifts following the Christmas holiday, with many reporting smooth experiences during the process.

Dennis Horton from the Better Business Bureau cautioned consumers about the growing challenges of return policies. He emphasized that while many believe the adage “the customer is always right,” retailers are not required by law to accept returns, as such policies are largely a courtesy.

Horton advised consumers to return items as soon as possible, stating that delays can nullify a store’s return policy. He also highlighted the importance of bringing the original receipt or gift receipt to facilitate a smoother transaction.
