Rockford drunk driver arrested in DeKalb after launching car into field: police

DEKALB, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford man was arrested Sunday night for DUI after reportedly launching his car 100 yards into a field while driving drunk.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Jason Solem, 45, of Rockford, disobeyed a stop sign at Genoa and Melms Road around 7:18 p.m. and went into a field, making impact with the ground and then turned to avoid a line of trees, continuing further into the field before stopping.

Authorities with Genoa Kingston Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and took Solem to a local hospital, where he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said…
