- Snow comes to an end tonight
- Snow showers develop Wednesday afternoon
- Sub-zero wind chills by New Year’s Day morning
- Quiet, but cold start to 2026
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – It was another cold day, at least by December standards, as temperatures were running ten degrees below average. Steady snow showers will continue this evening, before wrapping up later tonight. Accumulations should remain very light across the stateline, with some locations on average picking up 1/2″ of snow. Due to overcast skies and a southwest wind developing, expect temperatures to rise a few degrees overnight with thermometer readings in the upper 20s by early Wednesday morning.
