Mount Morris, Ill. (WTVO) — The Mount Morris Senior and Community Center hosted its annual “Noon Year’s Eve” party, featuring a potluck, singing, and various fun activities to celebrate the upcoming year.
The event, held on Dec. 30, aimed to bring together seniors, many of whom live alone and may lack company during festive times.
Melissa Rojas, Executive Director of the Mount Morris Senior and Community Center, highlighted the social value of such gatherings. “A lot of these people live by themselves, and they don’t have, really, anyone to party with on New Year’s. So, they like to come here and a lot of these people, who are here today, come here every day or almost every day. So, we’re a community center and a center for seniors, so people just come here and hang out, play cards and have a lot of fun,” Rojas said…
