FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – At the start of the new year, Freeport-based FHN will become Mercyhealth FHN after the Illinois Attorney General approved an affiliation agreement.
In September, FHN leaders unveiled a plan for the 120-year-old health system to join Mercyhealth. The plan was later approved in November by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
Leaders say by joining Mercyhealth, FHN will “strengthen its ability to meet the evolving needs of the community while continuing to deliver high-quality, compassionate care close to home.” At the time, the Freeport-based health system said financial challenges forced the move…
