Illinois Home to Some of the Snowiest Counties in the US

It has been a rather dry winter so far in the Rockford area. The most snow we got this season was when we got slammed on Thanksgiving weekend.

Since then, there hasn’t been much to speak of, but that doesn’t mean that we’re out of the wintery woods just yet. There’s still plenty of time for snow to fall, and if you’ve lived in Rockford, northern Illinois, or really anywhere in the Midwest, you should know by now white stuff could fall from the sky anytime through April.

The Snowy Landscape of Illinois

That’s why five different counties in Illinois are considered some of America’s snowiest counties, according to a new study from Lawn Love.

They ranked 213 different counties in America, and while Coos County in New Hampshire was considered the snowiest in the US, there’s still plenty of room on the list for Illinois.

Cook County: The Snowiest in Illinois

The snowiest in Illinois is actually Cook County. If you didn’t know, Cook County is home to Chicago and many of its suburbs. The lake effect had to have some reason as to why Cook County was named the 15th snowiest in America.
