ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Heavy downpours moved into the stateline earlier this afternoon and continued through the evening commute for many of us. Rain totals have been anywhere from 1/4″ in Rockford to 1/2″ being reported in Galena. As low pressure pulls north and east of the area, most of the precipitation will continue to wind down through the rest of the evening, with a few lingering showers overnight. As winds ramp up out of the south and southwest gusting up to 25 to 35 mph, this will pull in some milder air allowing temperatures to rise into the middle to upper 50s just before midnight.
