ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Malik Trotter, the man who shot and killed Rockford Police’s first female K-9 in 2024, has been found guilty of attempted murder of a police officer and the killing of a police animal.
Trotter was tried before Judge Jennifer Clifford in December 2025, and a verdict was announced on Friday.
On January 28, 2024, Rockford Police officers were investigating a “domestic situation” in the 3000 block of Jacqueline Drive around 1:46 p.m. that day.
