Ogle County community holds candlelight vigil for Renee Good

OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) – More than 100 people gathered in Ogle County for a candlelight vigil honoring Renee Good, the Minneapolis woman who was shot and killed during a federal immigration enforcement operation earlier this month.

Community members stood together holding candles, sang songs and listened to speakers as they reflected on Good’s death.

“Watching the unfolding tragedy of a murder, of a wife and a mother and a poet of a young woman who was seeking to be a good volunteer and a legal observer to defend immigrants in her community to build community in the city of Minneapolis was heartbreaking for all of us who witnessed it,” said Reverand Violet Johnicker executive director of Rockford Urban Ministries.
