A preemptive snow emergency has been declared in Rockford as a winter storm could bring up to 5 inches of snow accumulation to parts of northern Illinois and Wisconsin.
Winter Weather Advisory In Effect Tuesday Night
Due to anticipated winter weather conditions over the next 24 hours, the City of Rockford has declared a Snow Emergency, effective Tuesday, January 20, at 8 pm.
Enforcement teams will be deployed to ticket violators, so EVEN-SIDE parking begins at 8 pm tonight (Tuesday, 1/20). ODD-SIDE parking takes effect at 8 am on Wednesday (1/21), with the odd/even parking rule in effect until Public Works officials lift the declaration.
What The Snow Emergency Means for Drivers
During a snow emergency in the City of Rockford, vehicles must be parked on the odd side of the street on odd-numbered dates and the even side on even-numbered dates.

According to the press release, Rockford PD will issue $60 tickets to vehicles parked incorrectly, and vehicles must remain properly parked until the snow emergency is officially lifted, even after streets are plowed.
