ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Police Department responded to growing concern within the undocumented community amid reports of federal immigration enforcement efforts in the city.
In a statement released on Thursday, Police Chief Carla Redd said police are aware of questions circulating about ICE presence in Rockford and reiterated that the city’s police force does not cooperate with federal authorities, which is governed by the Illinois TRUST Act and Way Forward Act.
“The Rockford Police Department understands there is community concern regarding reports of ICE activity in Rockford,” the department said. “If we are informed of ICE being in Rockford and that information is confirmed, the public will be notified through our official channels.”…
