First Alert Action Day: Dangerously cold air will settle into the stateline Friday with snow on the way for the weekend

  • Arctic cold front moves in tonight, with a few flurries

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – It was nice to see lots of sunshine today, although winds were still quite breezy throughout the day. Temperatures stayed unseasonably cold once again this afternoon, but the winds kept chills in the single digits for most of the day. Winds will shift to the northwest with passing of our next arctic front, which will open the door for a frigid airmass to move into the stateline beginning this evening. A few flurries will be possible at this time, but one thing’s for sure, temperatures will plunge in hurry.
