ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – WIFR’s new weekly streaming series Moving In/Moving Out puts a spotlight on the changing business landscape of the Rockford region.
Introducing viewers to new businesses establishing themselves in the community while honoring the legacy of those closing after years of service. The series focuses on growth, change and the stories behind local storefronts.
This week’s business updates:
Candy Cloud breaks ground on first standalone storefront in Machesney Park
The established business has experienced significant growth in recent years, with locations now in six different states. The new Machesney Park location will be its second storefront in the Rockford region and will feature the company’s first drive thru.
- Located at 173 West Lane Road
- Expected to open in May 2026
- New to this location will be the introduction of dirty sodas to the menu.
- Menu offers specialty drinks from artisan coffees, creamy shakes, smoothies, boba, lemonades, and more.
- Rockford cafe, 6286 E State St., is open seven days a week: Sunday – Thursday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday – Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
New storefronts coming to downtown Byron
- Sundae Social posted a behind-the-scenes look at its new permanent spot at 114 W. 2nd Street
- Alfano’s, Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant; the city confirmed the pizza shop is coming soon, although no opening date has been revealed
