Phil and Brieanna Salamone built Salamone’s North, in Rockford, on family tradition.
“My parents and aunts and uncles all came to this country in the ’50s and opened restaurants in the ’80s,” Phil says. “I worked for my uncle at Tony’s in Winnebago, and my parents’ restaurant in Polo. My brother opened Salamone’s in Cherry Valley and I joined him in 2006. I was with him a while before we decided to open our own place.”
The couple wanted to stay in the Rockford area, and when a former restaurant at 2583 North Mulford went on the market, they loved the location. They opened the relaxed and inviting Salamone’s North in September 2017…
