Rockford Public Schools launches free dental clinic for students

ROCKFORD. Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Public Schools launched a Direct Dental Service at The QUAD, improving both access to care and hygiene for students.

“This clinic is unique. It is one of a kind. There’s no other one like it that I know of. This place stood empty. So, we were looking for a home to set a dental clinic,” said chairman, founder, and dentist Dr. H. Cyrus Oates.

The clinic is a free service that’s available to all students who qualify. District employees pick up the students, bring them to their dental appointments, and drop the students back at school. The clinic offers X-rays, fillings, and cleanings. Dr. Oates explained that it solves the access to care issue…
