Olivo Taco celebrates ribbon-cutting on new restaurant in downtown Belvidere

BELVIDERE — The brothers behind Olivo Taco celebrated the grand opening Tuesday of their new home in downtown, a move they say signifies their commitment to serving the city long-term.

Said and Mahmud Zatar cut the ribbon on their new restaurant at 132 N. State St. in a ceremony with the Belvidere Chamber of Commerce and several local and state officials. The brothers had leased space down the street at 603 S. State St. for about four years before purchasing this building, the former home of Maggio’s Pizzeria. Maggio’s Food, Bar, Slots is now at 2195 N. State St., filling a former Sonic drive-thru.
