LOVES PARK — The Northeast Family YMCA unveiled an expansion on Thursday that doubles the size of its fitness center. Next up it will add 24-hour access with an upgraded membership.
It’s the facility’s first major renovation since it opened in 2007.
The Y took over 4,000 square feet of space formerly occupied by UW Health physical therapy at the front of the building, 8451 Orth Road. Walls were knocked down to connect the two spaces and provide an open flow between fitness equipment. Renovations also included new flooring and new equipment, including an EGYM Smart Circuit. Those smart circuit machines, which made their debut in the region at the SwedishAmerican Riverfront Y, automatically adjust to the user’s custom settings and guide them through a full-body workout…
