Rockford police use GPS to capture fleeing car theft suspect

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police were able to use a GPS tracking device and its network license plate readers to assist in tracking down a man who reportedly stole a car after the owner left it running and then attempted to evade pursuing officers.

According to police, authorities were called to Ledges Store, at 3212 Auburn Street, around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, February 15th, and met with the victim, who advised he had left the car running while he went into the business.
