ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A Rockford council member faces felony charges after a drunk driving arrest last month, according to court records.
Mark Bonne, 63, is charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. The charges were filed in Winnebago Court on Feb. 20, 2026.
The charges stem from a traffic stop on Jan. 27 in the area of Harrison and Alpine Road in Rockford. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office says the charges were upgraded because Bonne has previously committed the offense of DUI or similar offense on at least two prior occasions; specifically in May 2005 and May 2009.
Bonne, a Democrat, represents the 14th Ward on the city’s southeast side. He also serves as chair on the Code and Regulation committee and is on the Labor Negotiations and Historic Preservation committees, according to the city’s website…
