SOUTH BELOIT — South Beloit city officials have chosen an individual with over four decades of firefighting experience as the city’s new fire chief.
Brian Kunce is scheduled to be at the March 2 South Beloit City Council meeting when he officially will be named fire chief. Kunce was one of four candidates suggested by Metro Paramedic Services for the South Beloit fire chief job. South Beloit has contracted with Metro Paramedic Services to provide fire and emergency medical services for the community.
Kunce currently serves as deputy fire chief at the North Park Fire Protection District in Loves Park, Illinois. He joined the North Park district in 2024. Prior to that, he served with the Boone County Fire Protection District based in Belvidere, Illinois…
