WINNEBAGO CO., Ill. (WIFR) – The Winnebago County Board approved funding for new portable radios for public safety Thursday night, despite allegations from a former deputy chief questioning how the equipment was initially handled.
Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana says the radios are critical for public safety and officer safety, noting the current equipment is at the end of its lifespan. The radios were last purchased from Motorola Solutions in 2016.
