Driver arrested for second OWI after nearly hitting 5 pedestrians

BELOIT, Wis. — A 30-year-old man was arrested for his second operating while intoxicated offense after Beloit police said he nearly struck five pedestrians and crashed into a building early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the 100 block of West Grand Avenue for a traffic accident at 1:48 a.m. It was discovered that the vehicle had been traveling west when it lost control, going onto the sidewalk. The driver ultimately crashed into a building.

No people were injured, but the building suffered cosmetic damage. The driver was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released…
